VALENTINES DAY
As you probably know the history of the Valentines card goes back a few years, but do you know how many?.
"1508" years to be exact to the year 498!
In was in the year 498 Pope Gelasius that proclaimed Saint Valentines day to be on the 14th of February.
The story goes as follows:
The day remembers a Roman priest who flouted the ruling by Emperor Claudius
(the second) who had ruled that young men should not be allowed to marry
because it made them less effective soldiers.
When the Emperor found out that Valentine had ignored this ruling he ordered his arrest and sentenced him to death. Whilst in prison awaiting execution Valentine wrote the first Valentine's Card.
Valentine fell in love with his jailers (gaolers) daughter and sent her
a letter professing his love for her and he signed it
Your Valentine
And so the first valentines day card was sent.

A note on dog vision
Dogs feel the vision without it moving it's head, depending on the
position of it's eyes and of it's head, is between 200-270 degrees, while
mans' is only 100.
It's seeing capability is much more limited. It's visual capacity is inversely
proportional to brightness, because of the reflecting layer in the back
of the eye makes them sparkle when light falls on them.
This way it's able to perceive movements in complete darkness. It's sense
of smell indicates that something's moving and through it perceives it's
surroundings.
Highest Fall Survived Without A Parachute
Vesna Vulovic, a flight attendant from Yugoslavia, survived a fall from
10,160 m (33,330 ft) when the DC-9 airplane she was traveling in
blew up over Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic), on January 26, 1972. A
terrorist bomb was thought to be the cause, and no other passengers survived.
Vesna broke both legs and was temporarily paralyzed from the waist down.
Vesna remembers nothing, but later learned that a former nurse, Bruno Henke, saw Vesna's legs sticking out of the fuselage. Bruno cleared Vesna's airways before rushing her to hospital. Three days later she awoke from a coma in a hospital in Ceska, Karmenice.
Strangely, the first words she uttered, were "Can I have a cigarette," were in English!
Most Deaths On Mt Everest In One Day
On May 10, 1996, a severe blizzard on Mt. Everest claimed the lives
of eight climbers and caused serious injuries to more than 20 others.
The climbers, from the US, India, Japan and New Zealand, were surprised
by 145 km./h. (90 m.p.h.) winds which sent temperatures plummeting
to -40 deg. C (-40 deg. F). During the night of May 10 a severe storm
with snow and hurricane-force winds swept into Mt Everest's "Death
Zone". Twenty-four hours later, eight of the 30 climbers on the peak
were dead, including expedition leader Rob Hall. Each climber had handed
over $65,000 to take part in the expedition.
Harry Traver
created the Cyclone roller coaster at Crystal Beach in 1927 amid great excitement.
His ride turned out to be a mighty dud and was torn down when no one would
go on it because of the injuries sustained from riding on it.
The maximum known extension of a human neck is 40 cm (15.75 in) and was created by the successive fitting of copper coils, as practiced by the women of the Padaung or Kareni tribe of Myanmar (Burma) as a sign of beauty. Their necks eventually become so long and weak that they cannot support their heads without the coils. In some tribes the coils are removed to punish women who have committed adultery
Once you're underway, different types of wheels help keep the ride smooth.
Running wheels guide the coaster on the track
Friction wheels control lateral motion (movement to either side of
the track).
A final set of wheels keeps the coaster on the track even if it's
upside down.
Compressed air brakes stop the car as the ride ends.
